Kitsap County Fights to Diminish Excessive Emergency Department Wait Times

Emergency Departments across the country are struggling to meet the increasing demand for EMS services. This has led to significantly longer wait times for transferring care of patients to the emergency department (ED) staff. Early in 2022, long ED wait times became more common at Saint Michael Medical Center (SMMC), Kitsap County’s only emergency department.
