Maintaining records of firefighter fit testing, training certifications and equipment maintenance are required. Keep your documentation current.
Remember – Facial hair and SCBA face masks are not compatible. A good seal cannot be obtained with the face mask.
When employees are performing repairs on buildings, ensure appropriate safety equipment is utilized. For example, working on a roof requires fall protection harnesses and any work involving construction needs to have the worker wear long pants.
L&I is in the process of issuing new guidance on atmospheric smoke. These proposed rules will not apply to firefighters.
